...a better way Scholarship Program

Since 2010 the CEK Foundation has awarded scholarships to graduating high school seniors headed for colleges and universities.  These scholarships, ranging from $1,000 - $2,500, have been given to a wide range of students of all races and ethnicities.  Since its inception nearly $50,000 and more than forty young people have been helped.

These awards have two unique features.  First, in addition to completing an application and essay, applicants are invited to an in-person interview where goals, family, and personal traits are discussed and the ambitions of the student can be evaluated.  Second, selected award recipients are told that staying in contact and maintaining a decent academic standing can qualify them for an equal award for their second year of school.

Plans for 2016 and beyond...

In 2016 the Foundation awarded more than $12,000 to nine students at two high schools.  Through 2015 all awards were to students attending North Hollywood High School and their affiliated Zoo Magnet campus.  In 2016 El Camino Charter High School was added.

It should be noted that there is NO salaries nor 'overhead' paid by the Foundation.  100% of all tax-deductible donations go directly to student scholarship awards.  Given adequate funds the Foundation hopes to expand its awards programs.
